Car Maintenance

Basic car care is essential and most of us, yes we are included in that (until now), think that we have to spend the money and take time out to have the car checked whenever it seems like it's not performing correctly.  Don't get us wrong, regular MOT checks and servicing are highly important, but cheap car maintenance can be done by anyone that has the willingness to do what might be classed as the dirty tasks – checking oil levels, changing the engine coolant and renewing the windscreen wipers.  It's not as dirty as it seems when you know how much money you can save in the long run by doing this.

As a driver, you need to be maintaining your car on a regular basis.  Cheap car maintenance can reduce the amount that you pay out to garages and trade professionals and can avoid potentially hazardous and dangerous events later on.  It's called 'cheap car maintenance' simply because you are not taking money out of your purse or wallet each and every time something needs changing on your car, because you're doing the basics yourself.

It's definitely worth noting that you can be paying almost £80 per hour for a garage to look at something on your car, only to find that it's the tread depth on your tyre that needs checking - this means a new tyre which that garage will normally change for you (at a greatly inflated cost compared to a tyre garage).  If you can't change a tyre then you should expect to pay someone to do it and to make your car safe afterwards.

We also have some tips that should save you some money which we have listed below:

So cheap car maintenance covers the basics of looking after your car that, simply put, can mean those quick checks giving you confidence they are not leading to further, potentially dangerous, problems down the line.

As a driver this should be part of your normal routine, after all it keeps you and your passengers safe.  Maintaining your car should include those mentioned above but you should know to get the car looked at by a trained mechanic if you are unsure of how do change anything yourself.  Cheap car maintenance shouldn't jeopardise the safety of your next drive so make sure you know to ask a friend, or pay someone to do the changes for you.
